Chancel Furniture
While I was in my second year of the furniture design degree course at Edinburgh College of Art I was approached by the Restoration Committee and asked to produce some concepts for new chancel furniture for St Philips.

History
St Philip's is a friendly community church by the seaside with a striking edifice. Built from Binney Stone in Early Decorated style by Dr. J. Honeyman, it was completed in 1877.

Location
St. Philip's Church is located in the heart of Joppa, a quiet suburb in the east of Edinburgh around 20 minutes from the city centre.

Restoration
Externally the main central roof is complete, leaving the west aisle roof to be felted and re-slated. The slates are on site for the work and this will commence on removal of the external scaffold.

Stained Glass
The originating ideas featured in the two main windows are devised in accordance with the geographical orientation of the church itself: developing the seaward aspect in the case of the north window (at the chancel end of the church) and reflecting on the landward face of the south (gallery) window.

Sundays
There is a Communion Service at 9:30am every Sunday followed by worship at 11:00am. During July and August the main worship service starts at 10:30am.
